Membership

Benefits and privileges

  1. All life members will be provided with a badge with the emblem of IADVL, an identity card and a life membership certificate bearing the life membership number.
  2. All classes of members shall have the right to attend and participate in all general and clinical meetings, conferences, lectures, etc. organized by the National Body or Branches of IADVL.
  3. All members are entitled to receive the official organ of the association, the Indian Journal of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology (IJDVL), an indexed journal in Index Medicus/Pubmed.
  4. All members are entitled to receive all mailers/announcements/brochures for National Conferences organized by IADVL.
  5. All members are entitled to receive IADVL NEWS, the official bulletin of IADVL.
  6. All IADVL members are automatically members of SARAD (South Asian Regional Association of Dermatologists)as well.
  7. All life and ordinary members are eligible for election as office Bearers (only if they meet the requirements) or as members of the Central Council and they shall be entitled to vote in the election of office bearers at the state or national level. (These privileges are not applicable in cases of retired Members, Provisional Life Members and Honorary Members.)
  8. Only IADVL members are eligible for any fellowship, scholarship, award, medals offered by or through IADVL.
  9. Members are entitled to constitute State Branches (not more than one in a state) or combined branches of adjoining states to encourage fellowship and exchange of views and ideas among the members and for the better attainment of the objects of the Association.
  10. The members are entitled to hold conferences organized by any state branch under the banner of IADVL.
  11. Postgraduate students after passing their degree / diploma are eligible to become life members.
  12. Post-graduate students who are Provisional Life Members of the association will be offered concessional registration fees at the annual national conference DERMACON.

Benefits and privileges

It was resolved in the Annual General Body meeting at Chandigarh (2008) and Bangalore (2009) not to enroll any non-dermatologists, without any degree or diploma in the subject of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprology as member of IADVL. Membership will be given strictly on basisi of the criteria decided in the AGBMs and published in the IADVL News (April 2008 and April 2009)

Life Members:

  • Only Medical Practitioners with qualification in Allopathic (Modern) Medicine under the Indian Medical Degrees act, 1916    Clause 2 Act VII and registrable with any of the State Medical Councils of India and possessing a Post-Graduate    qualification in Dermatology, Venereology and / or Leprology will be elligible and can become life member by paying a    lump sum as mentioned hereinafter; at one time, and will enjoy all the privileges of an member.
  • All life members should be provided with a badge and a certificate with the emblem of IADVL on it.
  • Photo-identity card and new life membership certificate has to be issued to each life member.
  • The updated constitution to be published should be distributed to all life members free of cost by the Honorary General    Secretary and Treasurer every 4 years
  • The life membership number should be in continuation and there should be no duplication of numbers, and new numbers    should be given.

Ordinary Members:

Only Medical Practitioners with qualification in Allopathic (Modern) Medicine under the Indian Medical Degrees act, 1916 Clause 2 Act VII and registrable with any of the State Medical Councils of India and possessing a Post-Graduate qualification in Dermatology, Venereology and / or Leprology will be elligible. They are required to pay their fees annually. Ordinary membership fees shall be paid in advance by the end of December for the following year.

Provisional Life Members:

Only postgraduate students undergoing training in Dermatology, Venereology and / or Leprology will be admitted as Provisional Life members. They will have to send a letter from the Head of their Department stating their date of joining and date of completing the course withthe form. Such members will neither have any voting rights nor they will be eligible to stand for any executive post at state or national level. Postgraduate students after passing their degree / diploma are eligible to become life members.

CLASSES OF MEMBERSHIP AND ELIGIBILITY AND DOCUMENT REQUIRED

(a) Life Member

The eligibility criteria for becoming a life member of the Association shall be a postgraduate qualification in the specialty (i.e. a diploma or a degree in Dermatology or Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy) from a medical college affiliated to and awarded by an Indian University or an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or an equivalent organization of the Government of India; or a Diploma in Dermatology or Dermatology and Venereology of the National Board of Medical Examinations, New Delhi. Others with foreign degrees or diplomas or equivalent qualifications should have their qualifications recognized by the MCI or an equivalent organization of the Government of India to become eligible.

Documents required :

  • IADVL membership form filled in triplicate
  • 3 passport size photographs
  • Copy of MD/DIPLOMA/DNB Certificate
  • Copy of registration certificate (MCI/STATE Medical Council) with additional qualification
  • A/c payee Demand Draft to be made payable to “IADVL Delhi 2015” of Rs 7000 payable at Delhi

(b) Provisional Life Member (PLM)

Only post graduate students undergoing training in MCI recognized medical colleges/ postgraduate courses of this specialty or those pursuing DNB in Dermato- Venereology/DVL are eligible for this category. They will present to the State General Secretary a letter from the head of the specialty department where they are studying, stating the date of their joining the postgraduate course and the date of its due completion, along with the application for membership. They have to send their qualification certificate within 5 years of their registration for the postgraduate course to the Honorary General Secretary (National) in order to become permanent life members. In case they fail to do so, in the defined period, they will have to register once again as a Life member after following the due procedure through the state branch.

  • IADVL membership form filled in triplicate
  • 3 passport size photographs
  • A letter from the head of the specialty department where they are studying, stating the date of their joining the postgraduate course and the date of its due completion
  • Copy of MBBS registration certificate(MCI/State Medical Council)
  • A/c payee Demand Draft to be made payable to “IADVL Delhi 2015” of Rs 7000 payable at Delhi

(c) Associate Life Member

Associate Life Membership can be awarded to doctors & other specialists working in the field of dermatology, venereology and leprology (e.g. dermatopathologists, academicians, researchers and genetiscientists). They will not have any voting rights and cannot hold any IADVL post.

Documents required :

  • IADVL membership form filled in triplicate
  • 3 passport size photographs
  • Copy of degree Certificate (MD, PhD)/Proof of qualification
  • Copy of MBBS registration certificate (MCI/STATE Medical Council)
  • A/c payee Demand Draft to be made payable to “IADVL Delhi 2015” of Rs 7000 payable at Delhi

d) Transfer of membership from one state to another

A application has to be sent to the Honorary General Secretary (National) along with a NOC (No Objection Certificate) from branch secretary.

Documents required :

  • NOC (No Objection Certificate) from branch secretary.

No additional fee is to be paid.

e) Provisional Life Member (PLM) TO Permanent Life Member (LM)

PLM have to send their qualification certificate within 5 years of their registration for the postgraduate course to the Honorary General Secretary (National) in order to become permanent life members. In case they fail to do so, in the defined period, they will have to register once again as a Life member after following the due procedure through the state branch.

  • Copy of MD/DIPLOMA/DNB Certificate/ Proof of qualification
  • Copy of registration certificate (MCI/STATE Medical Council) with additional qualification

No additional fee is required to be paid.

Ordinary and Associate Membership fees shall be paid in advance by the end of December for the following year :

All membership fee shall be nonrefundable and nontransferable.

The rate of subscription shall automatically increase at the rate of ten per cent every two years for a period of ten years, after which the format for increase in membership fees is to be reconsidered again. The treasurer shall inform the Branches well in advance about the increased rate.

After 31st March only Life Membership/ Provisional Life Membership contribution / subscription shall be accepted.

*One must join a State Branch of IADVL when one exists or a neighbouring State Branch. If none of these exist, one can become a Direct (Central) Member.
